I had been to Las Tapas restaurant located at 710, King Street in Alexandria, VA. I had been there on a saturday afternoon for lunch. There were no other customers at that time.
First of all the waiters did not understand English! I am a vegetarian and so did not want any meat in my order. So it took about 5 minutes to just explain to them that i wanted no meat in my food. The food took about 25 mins to arrive.
Then when i asked for my check, they bought me a check of $25. I paid them $27.50 with tip. (I think 12% tip was fine because of the slow service). I paid using a credit card. When i looked at my credit card statement at the end of the month, i saw that they had charged me $30.50 even though i had never approved that amount. I called them twice and emailed them once to resolve this matter. They kept saying the manager will get back to me. But the manager never called me back for almost a week. What kind of service is this?
Finally i was frustrated and filed a dispute with my credit card company. It is not a matter of $3. It is just that it is not right in principle for charging someone wrong.
I hope this makes others aware of this fradulent restaurant practice and people will either avoid this restaurant or be careful about their billing here. |
