The fact is, Chase is a despicable credit card company. I used to have an account with them. I paid my account in full early every month, so the way they arbitrarily raised interest rates on so many accounts was not something I would have noticed. However, they regularly denied transactions I tried to make under the guise of "protecting me". I'd have to call the fraud department to ask why, especially since it was regular usage with companies I had done business with previously. They were absolutely OBNOXIOUS on the phone. I asked them to make a note that I'd be doing this or that type of order, but they continually would deny transactions all the time. This was both embarrassing and inconvenient. Dealing with them on the phone was always a horror. Sure, they'd eventually go ahead and approve the charge, but by then it would be too late in many cases. My aunt is quite well-off, too, and she had plenty of stories to tell about them. If you do an internet search on this company, you will see others with very serious issues with this company. I have closed their rotten account and have gotten one with Capital One. They seem to be much better -- less greedy and nasty, and they also don't do the highway robbery thing to you that other cards do when you travel overseas. (I'm talking about the ridiculous, unwarranted transaction fees they charge you just because you are traveling. There is absolutely no reason for these charges which can go up to 4% of every purchase or charge you make!) If I were you, I'd avoid Chase like the plague.
