Hi, I dealt with Grace Foster at PPI. We rented a small apartment in Alameda from PPI. First, the contract was not professional and lacked several clauses which would have protected PPI from legal action. The state of the electrical at the building was not disclosed. It was as old as the building - which was built in the 1890's. The unit we had agreed to rent was also sharing the fuse box (not a circuit breaker, but one single fuse) with the second unit in the building. This was also not disclosed. We still liked the place (and had signed the lease), so we had two different electricians out to give us quotes on installing a dedicated circuit to support two outlets (one for the living room - TV and computer, and one for the bedroom). Both of the quotes were less than one months rent. The owner (via Grace) took two weeks to get back to us. During this time, we couldn't finish moving in because we wouldn't have had a usable power source for our appliances. The owner then refused emphatically and their electrician was rude on the phone and hung up on us. We asked to be let out of the lease (which had faults that made it not legally binding) and after much begrudging, they agreed only once they found a new tenant. They then only gave back half the last months rent and about 2/3's of the deposit. They did not send the required itemized list or copies of receipts for the charges against the deposit and have not accepted certified letters in an attempt by us to contact them. Please avoid dealings with this company. Thank you.
