On February 15,2007 I ordered a leather chair from Ethan Allen in Southington CT. I placed $1000.00 down as required and selected fabrics that were in stock for a custom chair. The sales person Lisa told me THAT CHAIR WOULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS TO BE READY. Another call I placed on March 10 gave me a date of 2 April 2007 when my chair would be in the store. I noticed that I had to be the one calling the store not the other way around for a status and update. I have ordered from them before and the same problems happened in 2002. I thought I would give them another try with convincing from their "designers" or another fancy name for furniture sales people.
On 5 April, I went into the store intending to pay for this expensive item only to find out that the chair now had a finish date of 16 May 2007. I am now up to 13 weeks to get a chair delivered to the store- not even my home. Ethan Allen has had my money for 7 weeks and offers no options or recourse other than to either wait another six weeks for the chair of 3 weeks for a refund because I paid in cash. .
It seems that this leather fabric that was in stock, all of a sudden on April 5th was out of stock. Not back 4 weeks ago when the chair was supposedly being made. No communication to me so that I could have selected another fabric or even get a refund.
Ethan Allen does not care about customers...and I have been one for 5 years
I called the 1-800-273-2191 customer service number and left 4 messages with the representative who covers the Southington, CT store and have not receive any responses. To be honest with you, I always thought this was one of the finer furniture chains in the country to only find out that they are no better than any other chain like Bob's Furniture or similar.
Beware of putting down 50% and having the store tell you it is IN STOCK. I feel like I have been duped and the store could care less. They have offered no solution or discount because "THEY ARE ETHAN ALLEN.". |
