I've closed my Verizon account in July 2009, calling them and telling that I am switching to Time Warner service. Month later I've received the bill from the Verizon for $39.91 for the service I've  never used because I was disconnected from the service at that time, having no access to their internet or phone system. I have contacted them many times and had a trouble to talk to them, especially, because their customer support is in India, and, it seems, that Verizon Company suffers from the lack of communication between their American and Indian customer support departments. When I've talked to someone 2 months ago, the Verizon person told me that I owe nothing. Then I got the bill where it said that my balance was -$29.95 which meant that they owed me something. Yesterday, on October 8, I got the letter from the collection agency where I was notified that my Verizon account turned to the collection agency and I owe them $39.91. I am shocked. I've never had such terrible service and harassment in my life. They are ruining my credit history for nothing. I've tried to call them and resolve the problem 2 minutes ago. They said that I still owe them $8 for the phone and I had no idea why. I received the bill from them where I owed nothing. Also, I had no access to their system being disconnected. As for $39.91, they said that I need to pay it even I did not use the service, and then they will give me $29.95 as a refund... That's how their system works.  Whatever they try to explain is a complete nonsense. Also, one of the reasons why I wanted to switch to another internet and phone service provider was that their internet connection was terrible, and they did nothing about it. The phone service was even worse; they overcharged me all the time.  For example, if I dialed some phone number once, it was shown at their billing statement as being dialed up to 4-5 times. I argued with them several times trying to explain that it is not possible to dial the same number 5 times in a minute. It was their way to charge extra money and deceive people.  I think that such terrible and inhuman service has NO RIGHT for exist!!!
