| I am writing this in response to an article posted June 4, 2009 regarding Maid-2-Kleen home cleaning service. We had a very similar experience with this company as did the author of the article I just mentioned. We hired Maid-2-Kleen in May 2009, which is owned and run by Jim Scheu and his wife Egla, to clean our home. The first time they cleaned, they etched marks and footprints into the travertine tile in our bathroom. I assumed a professional cleaning company would know that you cannot use any acidic cleaners on any natural stone as it will leave etch marks and spots. I immediately called Jim Scheu and told him of the issue with the tile. I asked him to only use water when cleaning the tile. Ha siad he would make sure the cleaning crew did as I asked and only use water on the tile. I didn't ask him to pay for the damage to the tile. I just took care of the problem and had the tile buffed, cleaned and sealed and payed for it myself.
I should have learned my lesson the first time around. Three weeks later the tile in our laundry, hall and landing area were very badly damaged. This time it was much worse than in the bathroom. It looked as if they had spilled a large amount of acidic cleaner on the tile. You could literally see the outline of the rug in our laundry room. Underneath the rug, the tile was perfect. Outside of the rug the tile was a chalky, etched mess.
Once again, I called Jim Scheu and told him of the damage. Right off the bat he denied any wrong doing. I asked him to personally come to the house and take a look at the damage. He refused to come and went so far as to personally attack my husband and myself. Jim Scheu texted us over 20 times in as many minutes calling us "liars", "too detail oriented" and saying we had "faulty tile". He accused us of damaging our own tile. Now why would I damage tile that I paid for, paid to have installed, paid to have cleaned, buffed and sealed? Jim Scheu didn't have much to say when we told him the tiny footprints of the cleaning ladies were forever etched in our tile (my husband and I both have feet that are much larger than these prints). The faulty tile part is interesting because I myself have never had one problem with the tile until Maid-2-Kleen showed up. When people can't defend themselves or their actions, they resort to personal attacks on the person they have wronged.
Over the next week my husband and I tried to convince Jim Scheu to be a responsible business owner. He refused and continued to text and e-mail disparaging remarks to us. Our tile is still damaged and Jim Scheu still refuses to even look at the tile.
Please do not entrust the cleaning and care of your largest investment to this irresponsible company. Please do not repeat our mistake. If you use Maid-2-Kleen, you will be doing so at your own peril. |
