Genesis Group / Mark Colett MD Home improvement lic #85816 performed substandard workmanship, flooded our home TWICE, FAILED county inspections and 5 engineers inspections, abandoned the job site, stole $25,000 and ultimately caused $100,000 in damages. His insurance company SAFECO only paid $29,000 in damages.

June 13, 2005  

Mark Collett / Genesis Group begin demolition and dig footers for new 1200sf addition.  Mark digs footer too shallow {failing code} and tries to cover up by pouring concrete to conceal shallow depth.  Demolition of all siding and home exposure to weather is premature – but is done to ensure he is not kicked off job due to incompetence.  {it is extremely difficult IF NOT impossible to get another contractor to takeover for a previous contractors mistakes}

Mark Collet's incompetence prevents him form completing many tasks necessary for county code approval and owner {JL Underwood} must complete to meet code.

Mark Collett's incompetence caused two floods 6/30/05 {causing $10,000+ damages to carpet, cabinetry, insulation and drywall} and 7/15/05 {causing roof collapse and the need for Howard County Fire and Rescue to pump out home and save remaining structure}.  Total damages from both floods $75,000+  

September 1, 2005  

Mark Collett abandoned jobsite 9/1/05 leaving $30,000 of work incomplete, stole $23,000 in overpayment and caused approximately $50,000 in damages form substandard work subsequently corrected by D. Haering, E. Beall and D. Heyman.  

The MD Home improvement Commission and Attorney General sat idly by and refused to investigate complaint made by owner.  Mark Collett filed a false mechanics lien for $44,000 which the Howard County Circuit court immediately reduced to $12,000 during the interlocutory hearing.    

December 19, 2007  

The case was never heard as Mark Collett's insurance company paid the owner $29,000 as partial payment of damages.  The Mechanics lien was dismissed.  

Due to the extreme negligence, incompetence and arrogance of Mark Colett the owner suffered more than $100,000 loss at the hands of Mark Colett and Genesis Group, LLC MD REG #85816
