The Do Not Rent list is used by some hotel/motel managers to keep drug dealers, prostitutes and other unsavory people from staying at their establishments. My wife & I are both disabled, senior citizens and were totally shocked when Manager Lee Judson, of the Seaside, Oregon, Motel 6 where we had been staying for 14 years included us on his nefarious list.
He absolutely refuses to say why; not to me, not to the BBB, not to AARP, not to the Attorney General, BOLI or ADA. Since the worst transgression we have ever committed at that motel was forgetting to to tip the cleaning lady on one occasion, we can only assume, which Judson does not deny, that it is discriminatory in some aspect.
I am a Chaplain and have a sticker on my car - maybe it's religious bigotry of some sort.
I am a Disabled Viet Nam Veteran - maybe Judson hates the military - only Judson knows at this point.
I am of a particular political persuasion and have a bumper sticker saying so - maybe he's of the other party.
My wife & and are disabled, move slowly, and don't hear too well, maybe he doesn't like older people - who knows?
I use aspirin for my heart and Saw Palmetto for another reason; the very idea that my bride of 19 years is turning tricks really upset me. |
