My wife was only 5 minutes late for the pick-up time for our dog at this facility, and observed shocking rude behavior and deliberate mismanagement of the animals under their care.
After one of their staff retrieved our dog from their fenced area, the fence was closed. However, suddenly many dogs were released and swarmed around my wife. My wife asked, why were these dogs released? The owner then rudely shouted, "this is what happens when you are late!" At that moment, my wife felt that the owner released the dogs on purpose out of spite, to punish my wife for being late.
Though my wife apologized repeatedly, the owner showed constant rage. When my wife tried to pay, the owner was unnecessarily rough, jerking our dog's collar to bring our dog to the office. Our dog is very gentle and does not need rough handling. Although my wife wanted to confront this behavior, she left quickly because she thought it was not worth her time. After these events we were concerned enough to bring our dog to the vet to have him checked for injury or mistreatment. Fortunately he was ok.
But I am shocked that a business would be so rude to a paying customer. Beyond that, the owner displayed a lot of anger toward the animals in their care. If they go so far when a customer is watching, who knows what happens when nobody is there?
When I was late myself to pick up the dog, I never observed this type of behavior (I am Caucasian). This leads me to two possible suspicions: either the owner is mentally unstable, or is a racist who will mistreat minorities when nobody is watching (my wife is 5' petite asian). Either way, a warning to other dog owners: don't leave your dogs at this place. |
