I bought a used car for my son at Airport Honda on Wed., Oct. 7. I took out a small loan from Honda so that he could get some credit history. Two days later he was stopped by police for failure to turn on his lights after dark. He was also given a citation for improper registration of the car. He showed the officer the information that he was given by Honda as proof of ownership and future registration of the car. But this "proof" was not appropriate. The officer said that he hoped that Honda would take responsibility for the ticket. I took the ticket to Honda who refused to listen and said that my son was being targeted because he is a teenager. Six days later my son was involved in an accident which totalled this car. He got another citation for improper registration. I asked the officer what to do and he said to go back to Honda and demand a paper tag. When I showed them the second ticket for improper registration, they still refused to acknowledge any wrong doing, but they said that they would humor me and give me a paper tag. Later that evening before I had a chance to put the paper tag on the car, the police showed up at my house because they thought that my car had been stolen since the tag was on a different car and they could not find the VIN registered anywhere. When I went back to Honda, the manger waved me off and I was told by someone else that the GM would see me at his convenience. I took the tickets to the police station and was told that car dealers put improper tags on cars all the time and that it is illegal. However, everyone I talked to at Airport Honda including the GM said that this was legal to take one tag off of a car and put it on another. In fact, the GM said that the state of TN said that this is what they "are supposed to do". Of course this is not true, and the suggestion that the police were targeting my son because of his age is ridiculous. He refused to acknowledge any wrong doing or help me in any way. Since the car is totalled, I need a loan number so that the insurance can pay the loan and give me money to purchase another car for my son. It has been over 3 weeks now and American Honda has still not received my paperwork so that I can give the loan number to the insurance company to buy a new car. Airport Honda does not answer my phone calls and when American Honda calls, they don't answer them either. American Honda has to demand to speak to someone. When I called to say that I was going to see the GM at a certain time, someone then managed to call me to tell me not to come because he would not be there. This is one of the most incompetent groups of people I have ever worked with. |
