In August, 2009, my fiance consulted with Mr. Lorenzo Petenzone of JNJ Remodeling, Inc. for work needing to be done to renovate her condominium in Honolulu, Hawaii.  During this time, this man presented himself as helpful, honest and able to accomplish all the work needing to be done and was cooperative.  This all changed, however, when called approximately 2-3 weeks later when his work turned out to be substandard and began falling apart.

 

My fiance trusted Mr. Petenzone when she asked him if she could call him when her fiance (myself) came and checked out the work done by him if we found any problems and he agreed to that while at the same time giving her a 1 year guarantee on his work.  This all changed when we did try to contact him by email, numerous phone calls and even by certified mail offering to work with him to have the substandard work fixed.  He would not return her calls either while I was there or afterwards when my fiance tried to contact him.  Just recently, after his ignoring our attempts to work things out and trying to contact him and after we had contacted the Better Business Bureau, he approached my fiance in his van on a street where she was walking and she felt intimated and threatened by him when he told her he was mad and angry that we were complaining about his work and that I was involved with trying to help her. While he may have other customers that he has done good work for - in our case - the majority of his work was substandard, began falling apart after only 2-3 weeks and he refuses to return to make things right.

 

The kitchen cabinets he installed are crooked; the majority of the vinyl baseboards he installed have either fallen off or are peeling away from the walls; the grout he used to install bathroom floor tile is beginning to crumble and come apart; he ruined a large screen by spilling white paint on it and trying to wipe it off leaving ugly stains on it by doing that; work he had done under the bathroom vanity on the plumbing began leaking and we had to call a profesional plumber, who luckily happened to be a neighbor of my fiance's, to fix that problem before it began to leak onto the floor and into the unit below.  All this happened after 2 weeks of his work on them. 

 

He is very unhappy that we reported him to the BBB after we had simply and amicably asked him, over and over again, to make a simple phone call to make arrangements to correct the deficient and substandard work that he has done on her condo and he never bothered with us once he had his money.  We have made our letters amicable, told him we understand mistakes do happen and all we're asking for is for him to honor what his website offers and his verbal guarantee on his work.  He offers customer satisfaction, guaranteed satisfaction and workmanship, high quality product, openness of communication, high standards and suggests that he offers 24/7 mobile service that alerts him to all his telephone calls.  Thus far and as of November 11, 2009, this man has provided none of the above things he has promised in his website ads or with his personal guarantees on his work.

 

In my opinion, this is a company that suggests it is larger than it is, promises more than it gives and other consumers should be very wary of using this business that represents itself as being so friendly and helpful but then ignores you if things they do are done incorrectly or you have problems with them.  I say use this business at the risk of once paying him, never hearing from him again.

     At this time, I would like to alert readers of this site that the above situation between my fiance in Honolulu and Mr. Lorenzo Potenzone /dba/ JNJ, Remodeling, Inc. has been settled in an amicable agreement between them and, due to that amicable agreement, this result should be made available to anyone reading this report.
