I was involved in a car accident in early September 2008. It was not my fault. The man that hit me had Unique Insurance. Needless to say, dealing with this business has been nothing but a big headache. They first sent me to some "hole in the wall" place to get an estimate that would not tell me the estimated value. Instead, I got a letter 2 weeks later that stated the damage was an estimated $886.00. I knew this estimate was not right. It also stated that my vehicle would be repaired with "economy" parts. My vehicle was only 2 years old and the accident was NOT my fault. I then got two more estimates at well established repair shops. The first one I went to was Bill Jacobs (where I purchased my vehicle 2 years previously). Their estimate was $1800.00. I also got a second estimate done at Collision Revision where the estimate was $2000.00. Obviously, there was a huge difference in what the estimated value was. I proceeded to call about the estimate (since that was what the letter suggested if we disagreed with the estimate we were given). They WILL NOT return your calls (and they never answer when you call). The name of the representative we were given no longer worked there when I asked the receptionist. All together, me and my husband called an estimated 35 times without reaching anyone (we also left messages each time). We then sent a letter from our lawyer to get a response, it has thus been 4 months and still nothing. We are going to file with our own insurance company (State Farm) where we will have to pay a $500 deductible and hope that we eventually get reimbursed. When I told both Bill Jacobs and Collision Revision that we were dealing with Unique Insurance, they laughed and told me this company was a joke and almost EVERYONE has had a problem with reaching any representative. I just don't understand how an insurance company can operate business this way. I have never dealt with a worse insurance company that this one. |
